In 2016, The Humane League (THL) founded the Open Wing Alliance (OWA), a global coalition of organizations united in a common goal: to end the abuse of chickens worldwide. THL is seeking commitments from chain restaurants to transition to sourcing only eggs from cage-free hens to reduce the suffering imposed on female chickens. While these chains might have limited vegan options, if you are “stuck” going to a chain, these should be considered all other things being equal because they have made the commitment.
Panara-70% of its eggs are cage free with 2025 goal of 100%. It is also working on buying chicken flesh that meets more humane living and killing standards.
THL lists the following as pledge commitment companies, too. Starbucks. Subway. Burger King. Chipotle. Pret A Manger. KFC. Pizza Hut. Taco Bell.
